Description
Authentic, easy New Orleans Dinner Mix Just add chicken and sausage or seafood for a traditional meal. Package includes rice, seasonings and hearty dehydrated vegetables. No Artificial Flavors, No MSG Added, No Certified Colors. More Flavor, less heat. New Orleans cooking to us is about the flavor, not the heat. That's why our blends have more ingredients for a rich flavor and don't taste as salty or as spicy as other box mixes. Package contains (4) 8oz bags.

I have used the mix twice
I have used the mix twice. First was for a large family gathering and I used a little more water than directions and everyone loved it. Second I made a batch for my wife and I and followed directions exactly. I liked it but my wife felt it was too strong. Quick and easy verses making your own and hard to beat the flavor. Both times I added okra.

I was too chicken to make a roux so I bought this based on the reviews
I was too chicken to make a roux so I bought this based on the reviews. I timidly added a cubed, sauteed chicken breast, a quarter of yellow onion, a bit of sweet peppers and celery, followed by spicy, precooked kielbasa at the end (so it wouldn't get rubbery). Now I knew what the flavor of a good gumbo should taste like, having had an excellent soul food cook in the family at one time. All the memories of the gumbo of long ago came rushing back and I suddenly gained confidence that I could do this, as long as Jambalaya Girl is holding my hand

this is as good if not better than most gumbos I’ve had over the years
this is as good if not better than most gumbos I’ve had over the years. I was amazed at the taste, and how quick it came together. I will keep this in my house from now on,,,

Gumbo has always been an odd prepared dish for me
Gumbo has always been an odd prepared dish for me. I like it, but had never made it myself.Recently me and a couple buddies stayed at our house on the coast and one of the guys made Gumbo. It was off the chart good. So, I decided to take it on and make me a batch. Knowing the ROUX is the key item for Gumbo, I was not sure how to start. Our son dates a lady from Lafayette, LA. She told me about a pre-mix ROUX that everyone in her area uses. I was surprised a true Cajun would do that, but she swore that's how they roll.Anyhow, I ordered this product and made up some Gumbo .... it was off the chart delicious. Against the stern warning of the girlfriend, I put okra in the Gumbo. It was still good.
How ‘bout addin’ a little lagniappe to your order?
Add Boudin
Add Sausage
Add Andouille
Add Tasso
Add Some Spice
Add Some Sauce
