Description

A French Quarter Icon: The Original Muffuletta

Step into a world where the savory scent of cured pork and aged cheeses fills the air, and shelves overflow with imported Italian delicacies. This is Central Grocery, where Salvatore Lupo created the world’s first muffuletta in 1906.

They still do things the old-fashioned way for three generations. Each sandwich is a masterclass in texture and flavor, featuring generous layers of fresh-sliced meats stacked on locally baked, handmade bread. It’s finished with the essential component: Lupo family's proprietary Italian Olive Salad.

Taste the tradition that made Central Grocery famous.

Unit Size: 32oz

Ingredients:  Olives with Pimentos, Oil Blend (Soybean/Extra Virgin Olive Oil), Cauliflower, Carrots, Celery, Kalamata Olives, Red Bell Peppers, Capers, Pepperoncini, Water, Vinegar, Salt, Spices, Garlic and Calcium Chloride, Potassium Sorbate, Lactic Acid, Sodium Bisulfite and Yellow No. 5 as preservatives.

Made by the proprietors of the Muffaletta and well done

Posted by Ynot on Nov 27th 2019

Made by the proprietors of the Muffaletta and well done. For a full sized Muffaletta bun the pieces are probably perfect but for a sandwich sized version it's a little chunky, so I chop them up smaller. Taste is on point.

I’ve tried to make this, but cannot get to the same flavor on my own

Posted by LLM on Nov 11th 2019

I’ve tried to make this, but cannot get to the same flavor on my own. My husband loves this on sandwiches, but I just eat it with a tiny fork.
