As someone who has had to cut out regular coffee from my diet, this chicory root savedddd me- I take it steeped for three minutes and then add oat milk. Tastes rich and delicious.

For medical reasons I cannot have caffeine - even the amount remaining in decaffeinated coffee can trigger very unpleasant vestibular migraines. Since I could not face giving up the ritual of coffee preparation, finding a suitable substitute was necessary. I discovered New Orleans Roast chicory after trying a different producer's product. New Orleans Roast chicory makes a smooth, richly dark beverage that goes well with steamed or frothed milk to create a satisfying drink that provides all the psychological and esthetic kick of the coffee-making ritual, without the caffeine. The taste is smoother than the competing product I tried before, and by buying the 5 lb package it was also a better bargain. This product works perfectly well with the Nespresso VirtuoLine coffee maker pods, creating a lovely rich crema on top of the liquid whether you start with warm milk or make it black. I am sure it would also work in a French Press, though I'm not sure about a filter since the grind is medium rather than fine. I'm glad I tried this not only dies it taste great but it does not upset my stomach. It brews really black so I was worried about what it would taste like and was surprised.
